Le Mans

January 2007

We were surprised when we visited Le Mans last weekend. We have only ever driven past on our way down through France and really only associated it with motor racing. We decided to visit the old town and found it to be very petty indeed, with very old streets and houses. It was very picturesque.

  1. A very rainy day, and I have been looking through your latest pictures. We wwent to Le Mans in the 70’s in our Triumph 1500 having camped in Britany and drove round the course towing a camping trailer. It was great fun, and we can still remember the smell of the fuel of the cars who were training. We also visited the Bugatti (I think that is how it is spelt) museum and Geoff got told off for touching an aero engine. Amazing thinking back! How young we were then, and Tracey was about 6. We were driving on to Paris and camaped on the holiday plot of Geoff’s French colleague. Problem was that we were by a wide river which was noisy with boats etc, in a flight path , so we didn’t get much sleep. However we saw a lot of Paris and walked Tracey’s little feet off!

  2. hi there, was just admiring your pics of Le Mans. Tom and I are doing the run to the Le Mans MotoGP again this year but unfortunately we are in more of a rush (due to lack of holiday time from work). Anyway Thanks for putting us up last year it was really good of you. Loved your house too! Give the dogs a pat on the head from me.
